Think You Might Need Medical Help Right Now? Call NHS 111
Health professionals from across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin are reminding residents to call NHS 111 this winter for the best help and advice for urgent but non-life threatening health conditions.
Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP) advises that NHS 111, which is available 24/7, provides answers to questions about symptoms, either on the website or by speaking to a fully trained advisor over the phone.
Depending on the situation you’ll:
- Find out what local service can help you
- Be connected to a nurse, emergency dentist, pharmacist or GP
- Get a face-to-face appointment if you need one
- Be told how to get any medicine you need
- Get self care advice.
Dr Julian Povey, Chair of Shropshire CCG, said: “NHS 111 is an excellent service which gives our residents access to the best health advice 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“If you are feeling unwell and are not sure what the best action to take is, simply call NHS 111 and they can arrange for you to speak to relevant healthcare professionals, including nurses, emergency dentists, or GPs and even organise face-to-face appointments and send you an ambulance if needed.
“Don’t forget, you can also access help and advice via your local pharmacist as well as your GP during practice hours.”
Dr Jo Leahy, Chair of Telford and Wrekin CCG said: “NHS 111 is the quickest and most convenient way to get the right help and advice when you need it.
“All the advisors are fully trained, so you can save yourself the time of trying to work out the best place for you to go and let them do it for you.
“If you find it difficult to use the phone, for whatever reason, you can now access the service online at www.111.nhs.uk.”
