Shropcom and Shropdoc set for launch of new, revised GP out-of-hours service

A new partnership between Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust (Shropcom) and the Shropshire Doctors Co-operative (Shropdoc) will go live on Monday (1 October) – with the launch of a new, revised GP-led out-of-hours service for the County. Shropdoc have been the local providers of this service for a long time and have now entered into the new contract arrangement with the two commissioning bodies – Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Groups. The renewal comes in light of the recent changes required as a result of implementing NHS111 as the single number for people to use.

Whitchurch residents are invited to have their say on proposed plans for a new housing and healthcare development in the town. A community drop-in event will be held on Friday, 5 October, at the Civic Centre between 12pm and 6pm where residents can view the suggested plans and talk to partners involved in the project.

Important announcement from Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH). The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust today agreed to temporarily suspend overnight A&E services at the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford to ensure services are safe for patients.
Local GP Practices to offer evening and weekend appointments from 1st October

Local GP practices are working together to offer patients more access to appointments, in the early evenings and weekends, from Monday, 1 October, 2018. NHS Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is rolling out the national initiative called Extended Access to offer more appointments to local people. It recently held a survey and used the feedback from local people to help shape Extended Access for Shropshire.

Quitting smoking is easier with the right support. The most successful quit attempts are made with a combination of quit methods, so this year Stoptober is providing a free online Personal Quit Plan, which helps smokers find the right support for them. Temporary suspension of inpatient services at Shrewsbury MLU

Inpatient services, including births, at Shrewsbury Midwife Led Unit (MLU) are to be temporarily suspended from 8pm today (Friday 7 September) until 8.30am on Monday 10 September. Antenatal and postnatal outpatient services will continue.

Do you know your heart age? Adults across the country are being encouraged to take a few minutes out of their day to get to know their heart age by taking a free online, ‘Heart Age Test’, which asks physical and lifestyle related information, as well as blood pressure and cholesterol, and determines if someone’s heart is at a higher age than their actual age.
