Five maternity hubs proposed to transform maternity services in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin

Over 60 men, women and children attended a meeting to discuss the future of the county’s midwife-led units (MLUs). The event was chaired by NHS Shropshire’s Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) Lay Member for Patient and Public Involvement, Meredith Vivian. He explained that the meeting was designed to cover the rationale for the review, what’s happened so far to bring everyone up to date, what the evidence tells us and describe what local clinicians believe is the vision for the future.
Thousands of people have their say on improving local hospital services

The NHS Future Fit consultation on improving hospital services for the people of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales received more than 18,500 responses, local NHS leaders have revealed. The total number of responses received as part of the consultation was 18,874 – meaning more than 3% of the population served by the county’s two hospitals had their say. The figure is considerably higher than the average response rate for UK public consultations.1

Parents urged to protect their child with free flu vaccination as winter sets in

As winter sets in and coughs and colds begin to circulate, parents and carers across Shropshire are being advised to check their child is eligible for the flu vaccine. The reminder is being issued by Shropshire Council’s public health team and Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group, as part of this year’s national Help Us Help You Stay Well this Winter campaign.
Pregnant women urged to take up free flu vaccine

Heath teams in Shropshire are reminding pregnant women across the county to protect their health this winter by having their free flu vaccine. All pregnant women are recommended to receive the flu vaccine which can be given at any stage of pregnancy. Immunisation is safe for both mother and baby, and can also protect your baby for the first few months after birth.

Mums and Dads who are using, or who have recently used, maternity services are being asked to attend a Midwife Led Unit Review Stakeholder Briefing, along with professionals involved in maternity care. The briefing will take place at Bradbury Hall, Trinity Centre, Meole Brace, Shrewsbury on Wednesday 24 October at 10am to 1pm.
New car parking arrangements at William Farr House site from Monday, 15 October, 2018

With effect from Monday, 15 October, 2018, there will be new car parking arrangements at the William Farr House site. A new camera-operated system will be installed by a company called Park Solve and will help to tackle inappropriate parking on the site. Once the new system goes live the entry barrier will be open permanently during the day and closed from 7pm to 7am and over the weekend. The car park will remain free to use for staff, patients, and visitors to the site.
World Mental Health Day: new mental health campaign launched across Shropshire
