Shifnal to have new purpose-built medical centre

Shifnal is to have a new purpose-built medical centre in the town to replace the cramped premises of the current practice and to accommodate an anticipated increase in patient numbers from planned housing developments in the area. Plans set out in a business case for the development of new premises for Shifnal Medical Practice have been approved by Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group’s Primary Care Commissioning Committee.
New Shrewsbury Town Site secured for relocating Medical Practice

A new town centre site has been secured for Shrewsbury’s Riverside Medical Practice so it can relocate just a short distance from its current site to purpose-built premises. Plans for the practice to move from its current site at Roushill to The Tannery development on Barker Street have been approved by Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group’s Primary Care Commissioning Committee.

Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is reminding patients that GP practices will be closed over the May Bank Holiday weekend, but that help and advice is still available via NHS 111 and local pharmacies. Pharmacies across Shropshire will also be operating on a rota over the May Bank Holiday Weekend, with full details available on the CCG’s website.

In celebration of International Nurses’ Day 2019, nurses from the Shropshire CCG Quality Team and Shropshire Community Health Trust have held a tea party at William Farr House. The tea party at Shropshire CCG was organised by Sam Bunyan, Head of Quality and Safety, and gave Shropshire’s nurses the chance to celebrate with colleagues along with a well-earned cup of tea or coffee, a piece of cake or a healthy snack.
Claremont Bank Surgery – Information for patients re. roadworks

For patients driving to Claremont Bank Surgery, please note that between 11am and 3pm tomorrow, Thursday, 2 May, there will be no vehicle access due to roadworks. Patients who are travelling to the surgery by car are advised to park on Barker Street, St Chad’s or Frankwell car parks. The roadworks are due to be completed on Friday, 3 May.
Ring NHS 111 Over May Bank Holiday Weekend

Patients are reminded by NHS Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) that GP Practices will be closed over the May Bank Holiday Weekend. GP Practices across the County will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday (6 May). There will be appointments under the extended access service for pre-bookable routine GP appointments. These are booked at a patient’s local practice and the appointment will be offered at a local GP hub so patients may not see their own GP.

Give chocolate Easter eggs a break this Easter says NHS Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) as it gives tips on how to avoid a sugar rush. A small Easter egg, of between 65 to 80 grams, can contain around 40g of sugar which is equivalent to eight teaspoons of sugar. These small eggs are usually aimed at young children, whilst a large egg, weighing around 260 to 300 grams, can have around 30 teaspoons of sugar.
Baby Buddy App Launches

The Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin local maternity system (LMS) has teamed up with the national charity Best Beginnings to launch the free mobile app ‘Best Buddy’. The app offers support to parents during pregnancy and the first months of a baby’s life. ‘Baby Buddy’ has been downloaded over 200,000 times since its release in 2014 and is a valuable resource for expectant parents, new parents and professionals.
