Out of Hours
Out of Hours refers to when GP practices are closed - usually in the evenings, weekends, or during some bank holidays.
As from Tuesday, 17 July, 2018, if you require medical advice or help from a GP Out of Hours please call NHS 111 - this is the free NHS helpline service for urgent medical concerns which you can call to speak to a fully trained adviser. Patients in Wales should continue to use the Shropdoc number until NHS 111 is launched in Powys by the end of the year.
Depending on the situation, the NHS 111 team can connect you to a nurse, emergency dentist or even a GP, and can arrange face-to-face appointments if they think you need one.
NHS 111 advisers can also assess if you need an ambulance and send one immediately if necessary.
