Shropshire Orthopaedic Outreach Service (SOOS)
The Shropshire Orthopaedic Outreach Service (SOOS) offers specialist multidisciplinary team assessment and management to patients with musculoskeletal health problems.
SOOS is provided by The Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RJAH).
What is MSK clinical review and triage?
MSK triage services provide a single point of access for local MSK referrals. They provide specialist clinical review of incoming referrals and triage patients to the most appropriate setting for further treatment and/or diagnosis.
From 1st April 2018 NHSE have asked the CCG to ensure that an MSK triage service is in place for all orthopaedic referrals.
The aim is to avoid inappropriate referrals, improve the quality of referrals, and ensure that people with musculoskeletal problems are directed to the right care setting first time.
The service is led by a sports and exercise medicine Consultant with support from GPs with a special interest in MSK , a team of extended scope physiotherapists and podiatrists and the surgical team. Find our more about the SOOS Team here.
SOOS has expanded the service and has clinics in Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Church Stretton, with further clinics due to open in Whitchurch and the south of the county over the next few months.
